The COBRA XRS 9440 12-band radar detector comes with Xtreme Range Superheterodyne Technology, which provides more range than past Cobra models. It also provides voice alerts, and an UltraBright LED display with numeric signal strength indicator, the intuitive IntelliMute feature, which will automatically mute the detector based on your speed and much more. The COBRA XRS 9440 responds to all types of radar currently in use by police, and provides 360 degree detection of all types of laser guns laser. This radar detector works great. After I mounted it properly in my car it got the 360 degrees view. It does pick up some false alarms especially on X band and to have no problem with this I just turn off the X band (I do recommend to do this). Anyway it picks up almost all cop cars with radar guns with plenty of time for reaction to situations. Voice alert works very well. Other nice features are the laser alert and the safety signal. It saved me many times. I do recommend COBRA XRS 9440. It is a nice device for its price.

COBRA XRS 9440 has to be one of the most attractive electronic items I have seen in a long time. Unfortunately, things are very different. It is a 12-band device but here is the meaning behind this: X band, K band, and Ka Superwide has a very short range detection capability; Ku band is used in Europe but it has no value in America; VG-2 alert is detectible to currently used VG-2 and undetectable to unused VG-2 radar detector detectors; specter -1 detectible to currently used specter 2, 3, and 4 and undetectable only to unused specter 1 radar detector detectors; and all laser signals have short range detection. So all you have with COBRA XRS 9440 is a few short range radar detection frequencies, a few laser detection frequencies (most of the time all too short to protect you), and a couple unimplemented safety warning frequencies. Additionally, these radars are known for giving off their own interference which can be detected by other radar detectors! The design is nice, the internal speaker is not loud (if you hear music loud or if you are in a noisy environment you can’t hear it), the power cord is very short, and the brackets are known to not be durable. I think I’ve said enough to make you change your mind.
